An Amish Bed and Breakfast Mystery with Recipes – PennDutch Mysteries #12
A sizzling new mystery in the national bestselling series set in the always hilarious PennDutch Inn…
The entire town of Hernia, Pennsylvania is abuzz with activities to celebrate its bicentennial—including a mouth-watering BBQ and the opening of a time capsule buried in the town’s foundry! Magdalena is celebrating a full house of paying guests, but the festivities are cut short when a guest, Buzzy Porter, is murdered and the time capsule goes missing!
Chief of Police, Melvin Stolfutz, who’s also Magdalena’s brother-in-law, asks her to head the investigation, as he’s out campaigning for reelection; hence too busy to do it himself (and too dim to multitask!).
And all too soon, Magdalena has her hands full trying to keep community spirits high, grill the likely suspects—and smoke out the killer.
“Bubbling over with mirth and mystery.” –Dorothy Cannell
“A delicious treat.” –Carolyn G. Hart
“Charming and delightful...Tamar Myers [keeps] it fresh and original.” -- Midwest Book Review

The story line was okay, I have read a lot of Tamar Myers books on the Amish theme in this series, several were a few years ago. I found the newer books, less to my taste, it seems that even though the author is Amish background, there are a lot of comments that make light of the Amish beliefs, and it became annoying after reading through the first and then the second book, then I had to struggle to read the remaining ones I purchased, because the author's style of aside remarks meant for the reader, making light of the character's beliefs or lack of something better to say...I don't actually know how to express it, but that trait became irritating, so I skipped through some of the remaining books. I guess they were meant to be humorous, but it just struck me as insensitive to belittle those beliefs, not that they are my beliefs, well, it just made me uncomfortable to read them, I guess. Plus the character seemed always to gleefully overcharge individuals that seemed to be visiting a supposedly Amish area, and I guess I am used to other mystery writing styles, so these were not as interesting to me and my taste. I'm sure she must have a number of fans, but I got tired of all the puns and putdowns.Product details

Thou Shalt Not Grill An Amish Bed and Breakfast Mystery with Recipes Book 12 edition by Tamar Myers Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I like reading Tamar Myers books because they are cute, I love her lead character and laugh at how often she gets into real disasters! The only thing I don't like is that I have read so many of them that I am tired o hearing about her big feet and flat chest and the dog in her sister's bra. I understand these things are repeated because some may only read one book and be done, What do other authors do? I don't recall reading the same descriptions over and over in other series. Maybe they have found another way to say them so I am not thinking "What a repeater!" Despite this I will probably read all the rest of the books because I keep hoping poor Magdalena Portulaca Yoder will one day find happiness!
Great Book
good as always.
great read
Always a fun read!
A buried treasure in a time capsule is sought after, and the thieves don't leave murder out of their options. Another winner by Tamar Myers, this book features two of her newest characters, a pre-teen foster daughter and Magdalena's Jewish mother-in-law-to-be, who is at her best squaring off with the inn's fiesty Amish cook, Freni. Mag's run-ins with Melvin are in top form. Fast, fun reading.
